Tracing The Invisible
The Little Prince

Cornell University, Fall 2022, Elective

Independent Project

Instructor: Andrea Simitch

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly: what is essential is invisible to the eye.” – The Little Prince

Reading a book is not only an intellectual act but an affective one: the text stirs the reader’s subconscious, leaving behind fleeting emotions that often escape conscious notice. These subtle feelings accumulate into an internal ambiguity that surfaces suddenly—often only upon closing the final page.

This project traces and visualizes such emotional residues in The Little Prince, translating them into a system of colors and notations with psychological associations. By “X-raying” the book, the work layers these registers into a performative projection, where overlapping transparencies stage a shifting play of color, emotion, and memory.
